3rd Grade Magnet - "Bring a Torch, Jeanette Isabella"

Ms. Abu Bakir and Mr. Oasay's classes -- here is the first of two songs 3rd Grade Magnet will be performing at the holiday show on December 13. We will decide later about whether we are going to add any recorder accompaniment. For now concentrate on learning the words, some of which are in French.

BRING A TORCH, JEANETTE, ISABELLA
Traditional French

Un flambeau, Jeanette, Isabelle --
Un flambeau! Courons au berceau!
C'est l’enfant, bonnes gens du harneau.
L’enfant est né; Mama appelle!
Ah!   Ah!
Que la mère est belle,
Ah!   Ah!
Ah!  Que l'enfant est beau!

Bring a torch, Jeanette Isabella.
Bring a torch, come swiftly and run.
A child is born, tell the folk of the village,
Baby is sleeping in his cradle
Ah!  Ah!
Beautiful is the mother
Ah!  Ah!
Beautiful is her son.

Hasten now, good folk of the village.
Hasten now, the baby to see
You will find him asleep in his cradle,
Quietly come and whisper softly,
Hush, hush
Peacefully now he slumbers
Hush, hush
Peacefully now he sleeps.
